Sunderland’s Matchday Against Everton Sunderland secured a 3-1 victory over Everton in their Premier League fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The match was part of the final round of Sunday 3pm kick-offs in the 2025-26 season. Ahead of the game, a minute’s applause was held after 15 minutes to honor Bradley Lowery, the former Sunderland mascot who would have turned 15 on matchday. Lowery’s battle with neuroblastoma inspired over £1 million in fundraising before his death in 2017. Two fans—one from each club—cycled from the Stadium of Light to the ground to raise funds for the Bradley Lowery Foundation .

Brentford’s Matchday Against Crystal Palace Brentford played Crystal Palace to a 2-2 draw in their final Premier League fixture of the season. The match was part of the same 3pm kick-off window as Sunderland’s game, with both teams aiming to solidify their positions ahead of next season .

Xabi Alonso’s Appointment as Chelsea Manager Xabi Alonso was officially appointed as Chelsea’s new manager on a four-year deal, replacing Liam Rosenior following a disappointing season. Alonso, who previously led Bayer Leverkusen to a domestic double, expressed pride in taking over one of the world’s biggest clubs. His appointment is seen as a shift in Chelsea’s strategy, with fans and analysts hopeful he can restore stability and align the club’s direction after a turbulent period under BlueCo’s ownership . The move follows Alonso’s departure from Real Madrid, where he faced challenges with player power and project-building .

Premier League buildup, Alonso in at Chelsea, Celtic v Hearts fallout, and more – matchday live ⚽ Reaction and buildup on another busy Sunday⚽ Alonso signs four-year Chelsea deal | Email XaymacaHeres a message from Jem Fawcus: I think it is the best news on the manager front since the insane sacking of Tommy Tuchel. Poch was OK and did a pretty good job, but all of Potter, Maresca and especially Rosenior were risky appointments of managers unproven at the highest level. While Maresca turned out well, and could have been a success if he didnt leave, the others patently didnt. Alonsos success in Germany, combined with his playing career, should give him the credibility with the players (and fans) to reset the team and build on their undoubted talents. That combined with a seeming change of focus from the owners on signing more experienced players – if it leads to them finally strengthening the obvious needs in goal, defence and up front, means Im more optimistic as a Chelsea fan than I have been since BlueCo took over … lets hope they get it right this time!
