Romanian clubs face Latvian and ArmenianKazakh opponents in Europa Conference League
FCSB and CFR Cluj learned their UEFA Europa Conference League second-round opponents on Wednesday, with Romanian clubs facing Latvian and Armenian/Kazakh sides in ties that open on 23 July and conclude a week later. The draw, reported across Romanian outlets on 17 June 2026, paired FCSB with Latvian champions Valmiera FC and CFR Cluj with Armenian Premier League winners Ararat-Armenia or Kazakhstan Premier League runners-up Ordabasy, depending on which side prevails in the preceding tie on 16 July .
Greek football also finalised its Conference League path on 17 June, with Panathinaikos handed Hungarian side Paks FC for the second qualifying round, while PAOK will face either Dynamo Kyiv or CFR Cluj in the Europa League second round, pending the outcome of the Romanian club’s tie .
Dutch clubs were also in action: Ajax will open their Conference League campaign against the loser of Ferencváros–FK Vojvodina, while FC Twente will face a yet-to-be-determined opponent in the Europa League second round .
Norwegian side Brann will travel to Dynamo Kyiv or Universitatea Cluj in the Conference League second round, with the first leg scheduled for 23 July and the return on 30 July . Benfica, meanwhile, will face Swiss side St. Gallen in the Europa League second qualifying round, while Sporting Braga will take on Serbian First League outfit Železničar Pančevo in the Conference League .
Austria’s Sturm Graz will face Scottish Premiership runners-up Heart of Midlothian in the Champions League second qualifying round, with the first leg in Graz on 21–22 July . Hungarian pair Paks and Debrecen will both open their Conference League campaigns at home on 23 July against Panathinaikos and Maltese side Marsaxlokk or Armenian club Pyunik, respectively .
All ties are scheduled to be completed by 30 July, setting the stage for a packed August as clubs push toward the third qualifying round and beyond.
