A federal jury has awarded $49.5 million in damages to the family of Samya Stumo, a 24-year-old global health worker who was killed in the 2019 crash of a Boeing 737 Max jet in Ethiopia. The verdict holds Boeing accountable for the fatal incident involving its 737 Max aircraft .
In a separate incident, 11 people survived after a private plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida. The US Air Force rescued all occupants, who were aboard a small Beechcraft twin-propeller aircraft that ditched in choppy waters approximately 80 miles east of Melbourne. The pilot recounted the emergency landing, describing the survival as "miraculous" given the low fuel situation. The rescue crew from the 920th Rescue Wing, based at Patrick Space Force Base, reached the survivors just as their own fuel supply was nearly depleted .
