On this occasion, EU leaders and institutions reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Union. The President of Cyprus urged for a "stronger EU" to address contemporary challenges, emphasizing the need for greater cohesion and resilience . The European Council hosted a stand in solidarity with Ukraine, highlighting its status as a future EU member and underscoring the shared values and aspirations linking Ukraine to Europe .
The role of citizen engagement in shaping EU policy was also highlighted, particularly through the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI), which allows individuals to propose legislation if they gather one million signatures from at least seven member states.
