Polish man arrested for ordering 300 pizzas in harassment scheme faces eight years in prison
Polish authorities have detained a 23-year-old man suspected of placing hundreds of fraudulent food delivery orders, including one for 300 pizzas, as part of a harassment scheme that targeted unsuspecting residents and public figures.
The suspect, arrested at his home in Szczecin, faces up to eight years in prison for stalking, identity fraud and causing significant financial harm to local restaurants by ordering unpaid meals, according to the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime and the District Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin . He has been remanded in custody for two months.
Some orders included threats in the delivery notes, such as references to kidnapping a minor, setting fire to a notary’s office and causing a road accident, the CBZC stated . The suspect also used personal details of politicians and media figures, listing them as recipients, and incorporated private information about victims that only they or close associates would know, authorities said .
One order exceeded 37,000 zlotys (€8,572), while the 300-pizza request was among those rejected by restaurants for technical reasons, as the volume made preparation impossible . Deliveries were primarily directed to addresses in Szczecin, but orders were also placed in Wrocław, Kraków and Warsaw, with more than a dozen incidents recorded across these cities .
The victims were not informed of the orders placed in their names. During the suspect’s arrest, police seized devices and data carriers believed to have been used in the scheme . The investigation was conducted jointly by the CBZC and the Investigative Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Szczecin .
