2. Overview
livefromeurope is an automated news aggregation platform. We collect as little personal data as possible: the website requires no registration, no account, and no personal information from you. Personal data is processed only in the cases described below.
3. Hosting and Server Log Files
This website is hosted on servers located in the European Union. When you visit the site, the web server automatically processes technical access data: IP address, date and time of access, requested URL, browser type and version, operating system, and referrer URL. This data is required to deliver the website, to ensure stability and security (e.g. defence against attacks), and to diagnose technical faults. Log files are automatically deleted after a short period and are not merged with other data sources.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website. Our hosting provider acts as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
Technically necessary storage (no consent required, § 165 Abs 3 TKG 2021): We store the following items in your browser's local storage. They contain no personal data and are never transmitted to us or to third parties:
theme— your light/dark mode preferencelfe_cookie_consent— whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies- an entry recording that you dismissed the "install app" banner
- offline caches created by the browser if you install the site as an app (PWA)
Analytics cookies (only with your consent): If — and only if — you click "Accept" in our cookie banner, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*, retention up to 14 months) as described in section 5. If you decline, no analytics code is loaded at all.
Withdrawing consent: You can withdraw or change your choice at any time with effect for the future:
This withdraws any consent given, deletes Google Analytics cookies set by this site, and shows the consent banner again.
5. Google Analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"). Google Analytics helps us understand which topics and pages readers find useful. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store visitor IP addresses. Usage data may nevertheless be transferred to Google LLC in the United States; this transfer is based on Google's certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision pursuant to Art. 45 GDPR).
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — your consent, given via the cookie banner. You may withdraw consent at any time (section 4) without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Data collected via Google Analytics is retained for a maximum of 14 months. We have concluded Google's standard data processing terms (Art. 28 GDPR). More information: policies.google.com/privacy.
6. Embedded Third-Party Content (Images from News Sources)
Some article and source images displayed on this platform are loaded by your browser directly from the servers of the original publishers or platforms. When such an image is loaded, your IP address and browser information are technically transmitted to the respective third-party server, as with any image on the web. We have no influence on the further processing by these providers.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in displaying the aggregated news content in its journalistic context.
7. External Links
This website links to external sites (original news articles, our profiles on Bluesky and Threads, and our Ko-fi support page). No data is transmitted to these providers by merely visiting our site — only when you actively click a link, at which point the privacy policy of the respective provider applies.
8. Contact by Email
If you contact us by email, the data you provide (email address, name if given, content of the message) is processed solely to handle your enquiry and deleted once the matter is resolved, unless statutory retention obligations apply. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries) or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry relates to a contract.
9. Personal Data in Aggregated News Content (Art. 14 GDPR)
The news summaries on this platform are generated automatically from publicly available sources: openly provided RSS/Atom feeds of news publishers and public posts on social networks. This content may contain personal data of persons who are the subject of news reporting (e.g. politicians, public figures) or of the authors of the source material (e.g. journalists' names, public social media handles).
- We process only content that is publicly available. We do not crawl or scrape non-public data, do not circumvent paywalls or access restrictions, and do not build profiles of individuals.
- Processing serves exclusively journalistic and informational purposes: aggregating, summarizing, and linking current reporting on European affairs (Art. 85 GDPR, § 9 DSG — media privilege).
- Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in news aggregation and the public's interest in access to information, in conjunction with Art. 85 GDPR / § 9 DSG.
- Summaries and source references are retained only as long as they are of journalistic relevance and are removed from the platform thereafter.
If you are named in aggregated content and object to the processing (Art. 21 GDPR) or request erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), contact us at livefromeurope@outlook.com — such requests are reviewed and honoured without undue delay.
10. No Automated Decision-Making or Profiling of Users
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR with respect to visitors of this website. The AI systems used on this platform (LFE News AI, Mistral AI, Black Forest Labs — hosted in Europe) process news content only; they do not process visitor data.
11. Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21), as well as the right to withdraw any consent at any time (Art. 7(3)). To exercise these rights, contact livefromeurope@outlook.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Datenschutzbehörde (Austrian Data Protection Authority), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, dsb.gv.at.
12. Data Security
This website is delivered exclusively over an encrypted TLS (HTTPS) connection. Access to the underlying infrastructure is restricted and protected by appropriate technical and organisational measures (Art. 32 GDPR).
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this privacy policy when the platform's functionality or the legal situation changes. The current version, with the date of the last update, is always available on this page.
