Belgium sack World Cup quarter-finalist coach Rudi Garcia after Spain defeat

Spain has won the 2026 World Cup, concluding a tournament that saw strong performances from teams around the world .
Rudi Garcia will not continue as the coach of the Belgian national football team, the Royal Belgian Football Association announced on Monday. Garcia led Belgium to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, where they were defeated by eventual champions Spain .
Vincent Mannaert, sports director of the Belgian FA, thanked Garcia for his work. "His dedication and experience helped restore team unity and achieve strong results at the World Cup," Mannaert said .
