A public consultation for the environmental impact assessment of Porto’s new metro line between Estádio do Dragão and Souto in Gondomar closed on Sept. 15 with 84 submissions, the Lusa news agency reported. The assessment is now under review by Portugal’s Environment Agency, which must approve the study before a public tender for design and construction can be launched. A subsequent validation by the agency will be required once the winning bidder finalizes the execution project.
The line, expected to take 20 minutes including stops, will connect Gondomar to Porto’s existing metro network, mirroring the current orange line’s integration. It will include 10 new stations—three in Porto (São Roque, Cerco, Parque Oriental) and seven in Gondomar (Lagoa, Valbom, Hospital Fernando Pessoa, Cosme Ferreira Castro, Oliveira Martins, Souto). Projections estimate 10.3 million passengers in the first year, with a 9% increase in ridership across the Porto metro system and time savings of 247,539 hours annually for private transport users and 661,390 hours for public transport users .
In Madrid, the Torre Castelló project in the Salamanca district is advancing, transforming a former Ministry of Finance building into a 21-story mixed-use tower with 158 luxury residences and a 400-room student residence. Developed by Lar and BlackRock with a €500 million investment, the building will feature premium amenities, including a 1,000-square-meter rooftop terrace with a pool. Colliers, the marketing agent, has already sold 130 units off-market, targeting high-net-worth buyers .
Meanwhile, Madrid Nuevo Norte’s first land sales are set for November, with two plots in Las Tablas Oeste totaling 4,000 square meters to be auctioned at a starting price of €3,500 per square meter. The project, led by BBVA, Merlin, and SanJosé, aims to begin construction in early 2027, with the first homes delivered by late 2029 or early 2030. The plots allow for 200 residential units and 2,000 square meters of commercial space .

New Sports Complex Opens in Pragues Riegrovy Sady A new sports complex has opened in Riegrovy Sady, giving residents of Prague 2 access to a refurbished court, parkour equipment, a climbing wall and an outdoor fitness area. The facility, next to the TJ Sokol Královské Vinohrady building, was officially opened Tuesday afternoon. The renovation and installation of new equipment cost CZK 8.7 million, excluding VAT. The site is intended for people of different ages and can be used for several sports. The refurbished court is suitable for football and basketball, while the new equipment includes a parkour area, climbing wall and a small fitness zone. The project forms part of the districts longer-term plans for Riegrovy Sady. Officials said the upper section of the park has lacked sufficient space for outdoor sports and exercise. The sports area occupies land that until last year was used by two unauthorized structures, the Ice Magic ice sculpture exhibition and the Containall sports and cultural center. The district is also considering a much larger project for the site. A multifunctional hall for sports and cultural events could eventually replace the current outdoor facility.
