Violent attacks injure multiple victims across seven European cities in weekend spree
A wave of violent attacks across Europe left multiple victims injured on Sunday, with incidents reported in Madrid, Athens, Finspång, Vigo, Budapest, Dublin, and Oslo.
In Madrid, a 60-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition after a stabbing in the Carabanchel district. Emergency services responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m., where a bystander had initially applied pressure to a 5-centimeter neck wound. The victim was intubated and transported to Hospital 12 de Octubre, while the National Police launched an investigation .
In Athens, an 80-year-old woman and her daughter were assaulted near Victoria Square on Friday evening. The elderly woman suffered a broken nose, extensive bruising, and multiple injuries after being punched, dragged by her necklace, and thrown to the ground by a group of five attackers. The daughter, journalist Christina Galanopoulou, reported that emergency services failed to arrive, and the victim was taken to Evangelismos Hospital by private car .
Swedish police confirmed two people were injured in a shooting in Finspång on Saturday night. The victims, found in a car, were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds. Authorities arrested suspects and opened an attempted murder investigation .
In Vigo, a young woman reported a sexual assault involving five individuals early Saturday. Witnesses heard screams and saw the victim escape by jumping over a wall in Matías Park. She was taken to Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital .
Budapest police detained three men after a brawl in the Castle District on Saturday night. All three sustained minor injuries and were hospitalized before being questioned on suspicion of public disorder .
In Oslo, a person was treated for a cut injury after a fight involving a sledgehammer at Torshov on Sunday afternoon. Police stated the victim was not seriously injured and were investigating potential links to other criminal activity in the area .
