Syrian singer Assala Nasri performs in Damascus after 15-year exile following al-Assads ousting

Syrian singer Assala Nasri returned to Damascus on Friday for a sold-out concert, her first performance in the country after 15 years of exile. Thousands of fans cheered as she took the stage, marking a triumphant homecoming for the artist known as the "Daughter of Damascus."
Nasri had lived abroad since publicly supporting the 2011 uprising against the government of Bashar al-Assad. Her return follows al-Assad’s ousting in late 2024, which paved the way for her concert. Addressing the crowd, she said, “Souls of my heart, I missed you,” according to AFP .
Al Jazeera reported the event as a historic moment for Nasri, who had been a prominent voice in opposition to the former regime .
