Premier League 2026-27 opens as Arsenal host Coventry City after signing Guimaraes, Tzolis

The 2026-27 Premier League season begins this week with defending champions Arsenal set to open their campaign at home against Coventry City on August 21. Arsenal secured the title last season with 85 points, finishing seven points clear of Manchester City, and have since added midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and forward Christos Tzolis to their squad while offloading Leandro Trossard .
In Portugal, streaming platform DAZN announced a partnership with LiveModeTV to broadcast one Premier League match and one UEFA Champions League match per matchday, primarily the 17:45 fixtures. The games will air for free on LiveModeTV’s YouTube channel, while DAZN retains rights to all 380 Premier League matches and 166 of 203 Champions League games. LiveModeTV previously secured rights to broadcast 34 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including all of Portugal’s games, the semifinals, and the final .
Meanwhile, BBC Sport and BBC ALBA will broadcast 38 live [Serie A](en.wikipedia.org) matches this season, with one match per round beginning Sunday with Atalanta vs. Sassuolo. BBC ALBA will air 19 games with Gaelic and English commentary, while BBC Sport will stream 19 others on BBC iPlayer. Scottish players in Serie A include Napoli’s Scott McTominay, Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson, Torino’s Che Adams, and Udinese’s Lennon Miller, alongside England internationals Djed Spence and John Stones at Inter Milan .
