Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez married in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on Tuesday, according to multiple reports and a post by Ronaldo on Instagram.
The ceremony took place in the coastal town west of Lisbon, attended only by the couple’s five children, their press office told media outlets. Ronaldo, 41, and Rodríguez, 32, announced the wedding by sharing a photograph of their hands wearing wedding rings with the caption “C <3 G” on their Instagram accounts. The post gathered over 4 million likes in under 40 minutes.
The wedding followed a week of intense speculation after British tabloid *The Sun* reported the couple would marry in Funchal, Madeira, Ronaldo’s birthplace. Thousands of fans gathered outside Funchal’s Sé Cathedral on Sunday, only to discover another couple was being married there. Local media captured the scene, and Ronaldo later reacted to the mix-up with a crying-laughing emoji on social media.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez met in 2016 when she worked at a Gucci store in Madrid while he played for Real Madrid. They announced their engagement on Aug. 11, 2025, with Rodríguez posting a photo of her engagement ring and the message, “Yes. In this life and in all the others.”
The couple have been together for nearly a decade and have five children. Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi club Al-Nassr and the Portugal national team, has scored nearly 1,000 career goals. Rodríguez, a model and influencer, starred in the Netflix series *I Am Georgina*, which documents their family life.
Portuguese media described the event as the “wedding of the year,” though the ceremony itself remained strictly private. The couple own a home in Cascais, where the civil service was held. No further details about the event have been released by their representatives.
