Two people were killed and eight others, including two children, were injured in a Russian missile attack on the city of Odesa on July 16, 2026. The attack damaged residential buildings, a religious institution, a kindergarten, cars, and other civilian infrastructure, according to Serhii Lysak, Head of Odesa City Military Administration.
Emergency services and utility workers are currently working at the scene, and an emergency response headquarters has been set up. "All those affected are receiving the necessary assistance," Lysak said on social media.
The attack on Odesa is part of a series of ongoing strikes by Russian forces on Ukrainian cities. On July 17, Russian forces launched 853 strikes on 58 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, killing three people and wounding five others, according to Ukrinform.
In addition to Odesa and Zaporizhzhia, Russian forces also struck Kherson twice, killing one person and injuring another. Both victims are receiving medical treatment, according to Pravda.
