HOF Capital-led consortium buys Porsches stake in Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac

A consortium led by HOF Capital has completed the acquisition of Porsche’s stake in Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac for approximately €1 billion, according to a report by Poslovni. The deal, fully financed by the consortium’s own funds, closed in recent days, with BlueFive Capital as the largest investor alongside HOF Capital.
Rimac Group retains a 55% majority stake in Bugatti Rimac. Leadership changes accompany the transaction: Mate Rimac will assume the role of President of the Management Board of Bugatti Automobiles, while Marko Brkljačić, former COO of Rimac Technology, will join Bugatti Rimac as COO. Christophe Piochon is stepping down as President of the Management Board of Bugatti Automobiles and COO of Bugatti Rimac.
HOF Capital will hold three seats on the supervisory boards of both Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac to maintain oversight. Porsche, which initially invested €180 million in Rimac, has realized a €1 billion return from the sale. Dr. Jochen Breckner, Porsche’s Executive Board member for Finance and IT, stated that €250 million of the proceeds will fund the company’s pension obligations, improving its net cash flow margin forecast for 2026 to 5.5–7.5%.
The transaction marks the second-largest M&A deal in Croatian history, following Barr’s takeover of Pliva in 2006. Bugatti Rimac achieved €200 million in EBITDA last year, its first profitable period. Porsche will now focus on its core business, redirecting resources toward its own product range.
