PSG sign World Cup-winning Spain forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona on five-year deal
Paris Saint-Germain signed Spain forward Ferran Torres from FC Barcelona on Saturday, with the 26-year-old agreeing to a contract through 2031, both clubs announced. Torres, who scored the winning goal in Spain’s World Cup final victory over Argentina last month, joins the two-time Champions League winners for a reported fee of €50 million ($57.83 million), according to multiple media outlets .
PSG confirmed Torres will wear the No. 9 shirt and called him a “Spanish World Cup-winning forward” in their statement. Torres expressed his delight at joining, saying, “I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris St Germain. I’d like to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, [PSG’s football advisor] Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique for giving me the opportunity to join the team, which I hope to help win as many trophies as possible” .
Torres, who joined Barcelona in the 2021-22 season, scored 65 goals in 207 appearances for the club, including the Copa del Rey final winner against Real Madrid in 2025. Last season, he contributed 21 goals and three assists in 49 matches as Barcelona retained the La Liga title. Barcelona thanked Torres for his “commitment over the last four and a half seasons” in a statement on their website .
The transfer reunites Torres with Luis Enrique, who managed him during his time as Spain’s national team coach. Torres made his international debut under Enrique in 2020 and has since earned 65 caps, scoring 25 goals for Spain. He came off the bench in the World Cup final and scored in extra time to secure Spain’s second men’s World Cup title .
PSG, who won the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, have now added Torres as their second high-profile forward this summer, following the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco. The French champions have won the Champions League in the past two seasons and are managed by former Barcelona coach and player Luis Enrique .
