Former Kosovo Liberation Army member Fadil Puškoli was arrested Monday evening at the Blace–General Janković border crossing between North Macedonia and Kosovo, acting on a Serbian warrant, according to reports by Pristina-based Koha and regional outlet KoSSev.
A Facebook post attributed to Puškoli, cited by Koha, states he was detained solely for his past membership in the KLA, though no specific criminal charges from Serbian authorities have been publicly disclosed. North Macedonian officials have not issued an official confirmation of the arrest or details on potential detention or extradition proceedings.
In his post, Puškoli called on Kosovo’s institutions to “immediately take all necessary measures to address this case and protect my rights,” as quoted by Koha .
The arrest follows recent regional developments involving Serbian warrants for former KLA members. On Monday, Bajram Bajrami was released from custody in Croatia after being held for a month on a Serbian international warrant for alleged war crimes against civilians, with Kosovo’s Ministry of Justice stating his release followed engagement with Croatian authorities. Additionally, Osman Seljmani was released from Serbian custody on Sunday after his July 1 arrest at the Mutivode border crossing on suspicion of involvement in the 1999 killing of a Serbian couple in Pristina.
North Macedonia previously arrested another former KLA member, Blerim Ramadani, on a Serbian warrant two years ago; he was later released from detention .
