Trump secretly flown out of Turkey on military plane after Iran assassination threat
President Donald Trump was secretly transported out of Turkey last month using a military aircraft after an assassination threat from Iran, according to a report published by The Washington Post on Monday. The operation involved Trump boarding the older, baby-blue Air Force One in Ankara in full view of cameras before being quietly moved to a smaller Air Force C-32A plane via a catering truck, while reporters and White House personnel were left believing he remained aboard the presidential jet .
The deception was designed to mask his departure from Turkey following the NATO summit, with both aircraft later arriving at Mildenhall Royal Air Force base in the UK. Trump then transferred to a newly retrofitted red, white and navy blue jet, a gift from Qatar, which had been presented as the updated Air Force One. The White House did not directly address the clandestine operation but issued a statement through communications director Steven Cheung: “As the president has said recently, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every tool at our disposal to address those threats” .
The Washington Post’s account cited reviewed documentation, a U.S. official aware of the operation, and another individual familiar with Trump’s travel arrangements. Journalists traveling aboard the older Air Force One were instructed to keep window shades closed during the flight, with Trump later remarking they were “probably on a dangerous flight” .
The revelation comes as the Trump administration has revoked over 175,000 visas since the start of his second term, according to the U.S. State Department. Most revocations stemmed from law-enforcement encounters involving criminal activity or violations of visa regulations .
Separately, Greenland’s government issued a sharp rebuke to a Texas oil company linked to Trump after it moved exploratory drilling equipment ashore without required approvals. Authorities in Nuuk are now balancing relations with the U.S. while resisting what they described as Trump’s territorial ambitions .
Additionally, the Justice Department has faced criticism for being transformed into a presidential instrument, wielded to target opponents and reward supporters, according to Foreign Policy .
Todd Blanche, Trump’s former personal lawyer, was sworn in as attorney general on Monday after a contentious Senate confirmation process, winning by a 50-49 vote .
