Dutch actress Keja Klaasje Kwestro wins Netherlands top theatre award for FCK LOLITA role
Actrice Keja Klaasje Kwestro won the Theo d’Or, the Netherlands’ most prestigious theater award, on Sunday for her leading role in *F*CK LOLITA*, the Dutch Theater Festival and the VSCD announced .
The jury, comprising Ernestine Comvalius, Peter Hendrikx, Han van Wieringen, Tommie van Eck, Jelle van der Meulen, Dana Kibbelaar, Daniëlle Kersten, Mina Etemad and Naud van Geffen, praised Kwestro for her “originality, courage and technical virtuosity,” stating she “embodies our screaming need for a voice of our own” .
In *F*CK LOLITA*, directed by Silke van Kamp and written by Annet Breme, Kwestro portrayed Dolores Haze, the 12-year-old protagonist of Vladimir Nabokov’s novel, reimagined in a two-hour monologue that begins with the audience held captive in the theater . The performance, produced by Het Zuidelijk Toneel, was noted for its physical, larger-than-life style, a hallmark of Kwestro’s work since her 2010 graduation from the Arnhem drama school .
Kwestro has been a member of Het Zuidelijk Toneel’s six-person ensemble since 2025, under artistic director Sarah Moeremans .
