Actress Barbara Eden marks 95th birthday with global fan tributes: I Dream of Jeannie star still receives fan mail
Barbara Eden, the actress who rose to fame over 60 years ago as the genie in the hit sitcom *I Dream of Jeannie*, celebrated her 95th birthday on Sunday. Her team posted a glamour photo of her on Instagram, described as taken “just over a month ago,” prompting thousands of birthday wishes from fans worldwide, including messages from Canada, Peru, Brazil, India, and Germany. One fan wrote in German, “Happy Birthday!!!!! You are incredibly great!!!!!!!” while another recalled loving *Bezaubernde Jeannie* and her master, according to the post .
In the series, Eden played a mischievous genie who captivated astronaut Major Nelson, portrayed by Larry Hagman. The show aired for five years and 139 episodes before ending in 1970 in the U.S., with its German premiere in 1967 on ZDF. Eden told *People* magazine in June at a Los Angeles charity event that she still receives fan mail and expressed gratitude for her health, family, and friends. She lives in California with her third husband, architect Jon Eicholtz .
