Israeli airstrikes on four residential buildings in Gaza City on Thursday killed nine Palestinians, including four children, medics said, shattering a fragile ceasefire that has held since 10 October 2025. The pre-dawn strikes reduced entire apartments to rubble and left at least 30 others wounded, some with life-threatening injuries, according to local health officials who described the attacks as “indiscriminate.”

Gaza’s civil defence reported at least eight dead and 15 injured in the strikes, which targeted multiple homes across the city. International observers warned that Thursday’s strikes risked reigniting full-scale hostilities. “Each violation chips away at the ceasefire’s credibility,” said a senior EU diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity. Palestinian officials condemned the raids as deliberate escalations, while Israel has not publicly commented on the operation.

The latest violence follows months of strained humanitarian conditions in Gaza, where aid agencies report persistent shortages despite the truce. The WFP’s data breach compounds fears of systemic insecurity, with displaced families already struggling under restricted access to food and medical supplies.
