Zelensky meets Norways Støre on air defense and winter aid ahead of King Harald Vs funeral

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Norway on Tuesday to attend the funeral of King Harald V and hold talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on air defense and winter support for Ukraine.
Zelensky and Støre met in Oslo on Tuesday evening to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses, interceptor missile needs, and the Freyja anti-ballistic missile program, a Ukrainian-led initiative involving Norway and nine other European countries. Zelensky said Ukraine aims to have a working prototype of Freyja by the first half of 2027 .
The president and first lady Olena Zelenska also expressed gratitude to Norway during the farewell ceremony for King Harald V, who died on Aug. 28 at 89 and was buried in Oslo on Wednesday. Zelensky wrote on social media that the visit would focus on “continuing support for Ukraine, with the main issue being the strengthening of air defense and assistance in other areas important for getting through the winter” .
Støre’s office stated that Ukraine faces a “critical need for air defense systems and other military support” as it prepares for a difficult winter, and that discussions would center on how Norwegian military and civilian aid can address these needs . No press briefing was held after the meeting for security reasons.
