Real Madrid win EuroLeague Super Cup final in Abu Dhabi after tight victory over Olympiacos
Real Madrid secured the EuroLeague Super Cup title on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, defeating Olympiacos 93-89 in a tightly contested final. The victory marked Madrid’s first trophy of the season and served as revenge for their loss to Olympiacos in the EuroLeague final last May in Athens.
Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot led Real Madrid with 12 points, while Andrés Feliz, Mikael Jantunen, and Jaime Pradilla each contributed 11. For Olympiacos, Aleksandar Vezenkov scored 22 points, Evan Fournier added 14, and Donta Hall finished with 13. The game remained close until the final seconds, with Olympiacos cutting the deficit to two points with 75 seconds remaining after a Fournier three-pointer. A series of missed opportunities followed, but Feliz sealed the win with a layup seven seconds before the buzzer.
The final showcased Madrid’s aggressive, fast-paced style under new coach Pedro Martínez, who rotated all 12 players in the first half. Olympiacos, coached by Georgios Bartzokas, relied heavily on their starters, with Fournier and Jean Montero entering the game late in the first quarter. Madrid dominated the rebound battle and led by as many as 10 points early, though turnovers kept Olympiacos within striking distance.
Earlier in the day, Fenerbahçe defeated Dubai BC 85-77 in the third-place game, with Trey Lyles leading Fenerbahçe with 23 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block .
