Eurojackpot winner in northern Germany takes home record prize as second-tier winners named across Europe

A player from Schleswig-Holstein won €39,496,021.60 in the Eurojackpot lottery, Westlotto announced on Tuesday. The winning numbers were 4, 5, 7, 48, and 50, with Euro numbers 4 and 5. A second-prize winner in Hungary received €1,394,682.50 for matching five main numbers and one Euro number.
The Eurojackpot draw on Aug. 25 distributed €39 million to first-prize winners, with the winning combination confirmed as 4, 5, 7, 48, 50 and Euro numbers 4 and 5 .
Additional winners in lower tiers included five players in Bavaria, two in Schleswig-Holstein, and one each in Estonia and Norway, who each received €157,307.20. The Eurojackpot lottery involves 19 European countries, with a minimum jackpot of €10 million and a maximum of €120 million.
The odds of winning the Eurojackpot are comparable to those of the classic Lotto “6 aus 49,” which stands at 1 in 140 million, according to dpa . Experts note that such games carry risks, including potential addiction and financial strain, though they consider traditional lotteries less risky than virtual slot machines or live sports betting.
Earlier this month, a player from North Rhine-Westphalia won over €32 million in the Eurojackpot, while another from the same region took home more than €87 million in June.
