Russian forces launched a wave of drone and missile strikes across southern and eastern Ukraine overnight, killing at least six civilians, injuring 23 others, and damaging critical infrastructure, regional authorities reported Sunday.
In the Odesa region, a mass drone attack on the night of 6–7 June damaged residential buildings, infrastructure, and two trucks, leaving one person injured . The strikes extended to the Dnipropetrovsk region, where more than 20 attacks since Friday evening killed one and wounded another . In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, a drone strike on a suburb killed a minibus driver, while guided bombs near a bus stop in Balabyne claimed three lives and injured three more .
The most significant infrastructure hit was a bridge near Chonhar, which links occupied Crimea to southern Ukraine. Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) reportedly struck the structure with a drone, forcing the suspension of traffic via Dzhankoi and prompting authorities to reroute through Armiansk and Perekop . Russian occupation officials in Kherson claimed the bridge was damaged in a separate strike, though they did not specify the perpetrator .
Further north, in the Chernihiv region, enemy drones targeted Koriukivka twice, injuring an elderly woman . In the Donetsk region, 27 Russian shellings over the past day killed two civilians and wounded four, while damaging homes and other facilities . The Kherson region bore the brunt of the assault, with 37 settlements—including the regional capital—hit by drones and artillery, leaving 14 wounded and targeting critical and social infrastructure .
Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces retaliated overnight, striking 26 Russian targets in occupied territories and Russia’s Bryansk region . Meanwhile, Russian forces attacked a DTEK coal mine in Dnipropetrovsk twice, injuring a worker .
The escalation follows weeks of intensified strikes across multiple fronts, as both sides target logistics, energy, and civilian areas. With no immediate ceasefire in sight, the humanitarian toll continues to rise.
