Mediapart publishes authenticated antisemitic messages linked to Frances Bardella, who denies authorship
Far-right National Rally faces antisemitism scandal as Bardellas past remarks resurface in France
Investigative outlet Mediapart published authenticated evidence on Thursday linking Jordan Bardella, president of France’s Rassemblement National, to antisemitic messages he denies writing. The outlet released screenshots of 2013–2014 Facebook Messenger conversations, alongside emails and witness interviews, which it said were verified through a Meta data extraction certified by a court bailiff .
Mediapart stated the conversations included biographical details confirming Bardella’s identity, such as references to his mother’s Italian birth, a 2013 interview with *Le Parisien*, and a failed Sciences Po exam. The outlet also cited messages like “The banks are all owned by Jews” and praise for antisemite Alain Soral, which it attributed to Bardella .
Bardella called the evidence “crude fakes” on X and announced legal action for forgery and defamation, repeating his denial of authorship. His party, including Marine Le Pen, has dismissed the investigation as a smear .
Mediapart’s authentication relied on a Meta-provided data archive obtained via the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, with the extraction process documented by a bailiff to confirm the messages were unaltered .
