Across Europe, the weekend weather forecast presents a mix of warm temperatures and impending rain. However, this pleasant weather is expected to be short-lived as rain, showers, and locally heavy thunderstorms are forecasted to move in on Sunday. The DWD has not ruled out the possibility of severe weather in some areas. Temperatures on Sunday will range from 19°C on the islands to 24°C in the Göttingen area.

In Belgium, residents can expect a warm Saturday with temperatures reaching up to 28°C (82°F) under a bright sun in the morning, though clouds may roll in during the afternoon. The night will remain mild with temperatures between 11°C and 19°C. However, the weather will change on Sunday with rain expected to move in from the west.

Slovakia is experiencing a significant drop in temperatures, with some areas seeing lows of 3°C above zero on Saturday morning. However, temperatures are expected to rise again during the day, reaching the 30s in warmer regions. This comes after a period of extreme heat in late June and early July, where temperatures soared above 40°C in some areas.

Hungary has set a new daily minimum temperature record in Lénárddaróc with 4.6°C (40°F) measured at 5 a.m. However, temperatures are expected to rise quickly, with Sunday seeing temperatures above 30°C in many areas. A heatwave is forecasted to begin in the second half of the week, with temperatures potentially exceeding 35°C and even reaching 40°C in Szeged.

The Czech Republic is also expecting a return to tropical weather, with temperatures possibly reaching 36°C next weekend. However, meteorologists do not expect the extreme heat seen at the end of June.

In Austria, a heatwave is expected to start in the middle of next week, with temperatures around 35°C and peaks up to 38°C. The heatwave is expected to last longer than previous ones.

The Netherlands will see plenty of sunshine on Saturday, with summer-like warmth. However, rain is expected on Sunday, followed by a return to tropical temperatures next week.

France is bracing for another heatwave next week, following the current one which is the longest on record. The new heatwave is expected to bring high temperatures across the country.

In Cyprus, Saturday will be mostly sunny with a chance of isolated showers, mainly over the mountains and eastern areas. Temperatures will start to rise again in the coming days.

Switzerland has imposed fireworks bans in many cantons due to the dry conditions, affecting the traditional celebrations for the National Day on August 1.

The extreme heat is also taking a toll on health across Europe, with increased irritability, poorer sleep, and more cardiovascular problems reported. Additionally, a strong El Niño event is predicted, which could make 2026 and 2027 the hottest years on record, according to climate researcher Zeke Hausfather.
