The Ukrainian Parliament on Tuesday approved the resignation of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, leading to the resignation of the entire government. A total of 258 members of parliament voted in favor of the decision.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had announced the need to reshuffle the Cabinet of Ministers and changes in the leadership of law enforcement agencies. According to sources, Serhii Koretskyi, CEO of Naftogaz, is among the candidates being considered for the post of head of government.
Svyrydenko's resignation follows a meeting with Zelenskyy, where she effectively confirmed she was leaving the post of head of government. There is speculation about Svyrydenko becoming the ambassador to the US, but she hasn't confirmed this yet.
The decision to reshuffle the cabinet was supported by 258 lawmakers, with five abstaining and one voting against it. All ministers will serve in an acting capacity until a new cabinet is appointed.
In her farewell speech, Svyrydenko thanked the deputies and government agencies for their collaboration over the past year. She expressed gratitude to the President for his trust, the Ukrainian people for their faith and tireless work, and the military for defending the country.
The parliamentary vote on the appointment of a new government is expected to take place on July 16.
