Polish energy and industrial firms swing to profit in first half of 2026: PGE posts 4.047 billion złoty net gain

Polish energy and industrial companies reported a sharp financial turnaround in the first half of 2026, with several firms swinging from losses to significant profits.
Polska Grupa Energetyczna, the country’s largest energy group, posted a net profit of 4.047 billion złoty, reversing a 7.123 billion złoty loss in the same period of 2025. The shift followed a drastic reduction in impairment charges, which fell from over 9 billion złoty to 248 million złoty. Net debt also dropped from 4.207 billion złoty to 1.753 billion złoty. Production and sales of heat rose by 10%, while electricity generation increased by 9%. CEO Dariusz Lubera attributed the performance to record results in gas and district heating segments, with EBITDA reaching 3.96 billion złoty in the second quarter alone .
Bowim, a steel distribution company, saw its net profit climb to 17.9 million złoty from a 1.3 million złoty loss a year earlier, with EBIT up 281.7% to 28.9 million złoty. The company cited market stabilization and regulatory changes, including the EU’s CBAM mechanism and new safeguards against cheap steel imports, as key factors .
Fasing, a mining equipment manufacturer, reported a net profit of 5.2 million złoty, up from 4.4 million złoty in the first half of 2025, despite a 4.6 million złoty decline in revenue to 103.1 million złoty. The company highlighted plans to expand its product range and target India’s growing underground mining sector .
