Poland’s PGE Energia Ciepła has launched a 866 million złoty ($210 million) investment to build a gas-fired cogeneration system at the Elektrociepłownia Kraków power plant, with completion slated for 2028. The project, awarded to Polish firms Unibep and SBB Energy, will install 10 gas engines with a combined capacity of 100 MWe and 100 MWt, covering roughly 20% of Kraków’s district heating demand.

In Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Orlen Termika Silesia has secured 50.8 million złoty in EU funding for a 102.7 million złoty project to merge the heating systems of Zakłady Jastrzębie-Zdrój and Pniówek. The 6.789 km network, set for completion by 2029, will cut coal use by 121,141 GJ annually and reduce CO₂ emissions by 13,927.9 tons, aligning with Poland’s climate neutrality goals .
