Russian air strikes killed at least nine civilians and wounded dozens across Ukraine on Saturday, as Moscow intensified its campaign against civilian infrastructure ahead of winter.
In the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, two people were killed and 11 injured in overnight attacks, according to regional head Ivan Fedorov. In Kryvyi Rih, two died and three were wounded in strikes, local officials said. Oleh Kiper, governor of Odesa region, reported 35 wounded in a “massive attack” that destroyed the upper floors of a residential high-rise.
In Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, Russian drones struck private cars in three separate incidents over 90 minutes, killing three and injuring four, the city council said. “These are not military targets. They are ordinary civilian cars. People were going about their business,” the council stated. In Zhytomyr region, a strike on a grocery store in Zvyahel killed two, Governor Vitaliy Bunechko said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched nearly 500 drones at Ukrainian targets since early morning, calling the tactic “basic: destroying every site that could help people cope with the conditions of war.” Ukraine’s Air Force reported 410 drones launched, with 336 shot down .
Russian forces claimed strikes on industrial targets, including the Zaporizhstal steel plant in Zaporizhzhia and the Interpipe Steel complex in Dnipro, but the reports could not be independently verified.
