Riga to host international BMX street competition with over 30 riders from 18 countries

Riga will host the Simple Session Street Series 2026 on August 22–23, featuring over 30 top international BMX riders from 18 countries competing in street discipline events. The festival, founded in Tartu, Estonia in 2000, will take place in Riga’s Sarkandaugava district, with competitions on Zāģeru iela on August 22 and street riding around the city on August 23.
The event is part of the ROW Baltics street culture festival for the first time this year. Among the confirmed participants are Garrett Reynolds, Reed Stark, and Billy Perry from the USA, Sasha Cambon from France, Joe Jarvis from the United Kingdom, and Sisuke Hayata from Japan. Organizers have set up street-style BMX ramps to showcase high-level performances, with both cash prizes and sponsor-provided awards for head-to-head competitions.
Simple Session’s head organizer, Risto Kalmre, stated that the decision to focus on BMX street riding and split the event between Tallinn and Riga aims to give the discipline full attention and deliver an engaging show for spectators. Tallinn hosted the first leg of the series on August 19–20, with competitions at Balta hoov in the Telliskivi area and street riding around the city. Both events are free for spectators, with additional details available at session.ee.
The Riga leg will also include a local skateboarding competition alongside the BMX events. The festival promises two days of extreme sports, evening parties, and film screenings, continuing Simple Session’s reputation as a major gathering for the global BMX and skateboarding community .
