In Bremen, federal leaders including the president, chancellor, and Bundestag president joined an ecumenical service at the cathedral and a state ceremony at the Konzerthaus “Die Glocke,” moderated by actress Katja Riemann. The city, holding the Bundesrat presidency, hosted 800 events through Sunday, featuring concerts, discussions, and free public transport. FDP politician Linda Teuteberg criticized recent East German election campaigns for reviving old divisions, citing the rejection of the “Rente mit 64” pension plan and what she called “ostdeutschtümelnde Begründung” (ostentatiously East German reasoning). She warned against framing the East as a “blocking” force against a reform-ready West .
