Ukraine launched drone strikes overnight into Sept. 20 on the Moscow refinery in Kapotnya, likely hitting two primary distillation units, ELOU-AVT-6 and Euro+, which together cover 100% of primary capacity, halting processing, according to reports .

The attack occurred 18 km from the Kremlin and targeted freshly restored equipment, with Reuters estimating repairs could take over six months, and some analysts suggesting operations may not resume before 2027 . Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed strikes on a key Russian oil-industry facility and a logistics site in the Moscow region, stating they disrupted "billions of dollars supporting the war machine" .

Zelenskyy said Ukraine employed multiple long-range systems, including FP-1, RZ-100, Palianytsia, Liutyi, Flamingo, and Pelican drones, and credited security and intelligence units for the operation . Footage also showed a Ukrainian FP-1 long-range drone impacting in Moscow’s Kapotnya District, reportedly brought down by electronic warfare .

Overnight into Sept 20, Ukraines Defense Forces struck the Moscow refinery in Kapotnya. Two primary distillation units were likely hit, ELOU-AVT-6 and Euro+, together covering 100 of primary capacity, so processing may be halted. In June it took two raids two days apart. Now both lines were likely hit in one night 18 km from the Kremlin. Reuters later put repairs at 6+ months at best, some analysts not before 2027, so this likely hit freshly restored gear. Zelensky says a logistics site was hit too.

Ukraine Brief — 2026-09-20Ukraines deep-strike expansion and Russias election-period territorial consolidation are driving the conflicts most intense kinetic exchange since August while the diplomatic channel atrophies. Russia will likely respond with a retaliatory strike exceeding 50 munitions within 72 hours, driven by the 1,600-drone Moscow-region sortie during Duma voting and concurrent hits on Rostov and Yaroslavl military-energy targets. Moderate confidence reflects the sustained Russian strike cadence offset by election-weekend normalcy incentives. Absence of that scale within the window would indicate resource constraints or deliberate calibration. No new U.S.-brokered ceasefire framework will very likely materialize before October 4, consistent with post-failure pauses after the Alaska summit and the 28-point memorandum collapse. Both capitals are independently working to sideline Witkoff, and Moscows first Duma balloting in the four annexed oblasts narrows the space for territorial compromise.European allies are filling the gap: at least one Carpathian Eight member beyond Denmark and Poland will likely announce a defense-cooperation agreement by September 27. At least one Western government will also likely announce targeted sanctions citing the occupied-territory elections by October 4. The expanding strike campaign likely produces at least one additional nuclear-facility incident within two weeks, testing whether IAEA restraint calls alter targeting. #UkraineWar #RussiaUkraineWar

🔁 Forwarded from Zelenskiy / OfficialIn the Moscow region this night, our long-range responses worked very noticeably. There is damage to one of the key enterprises of the oil industry of the Russian Federation and the aggressors logistics facility. Its billions of dollars that support the war machine. They worked, in particular, FP-1, RZ-100, MICH-2000, "Palyanytsia", Vendetta, "Lutyy", "Leopard", "Flamingo", "January", Pelican. Thanks to our soldiers for their accuracy: SBU together with SBS, SSO, GUR and SZR. Sanctions were also applied to an enterprise in the Voronezh region. Moscow should not build echeloned air defense rings at the expense of other regions, but end its brutal war and choose peace. Steps for de-escalation are on the table: in energy, food security. Political will is needed. Thank you to everyone who is strengthening Ukrainian long-distance driving. I am grateful to everyone who supplements our long-range answers with sanctioned answers. Glory to Ukraine!#Ukraine #UkraineWar #OSINT

The UN has documented nearly 1,000 cases of conflict-related sexual violence during Russias war against Ukraine. Russian forces were responsible for 89 of the documented cases. Between February 24, 2022, and July 31, 2026, the UN documented 984 cases involving 1,004 individuals. The organization stresses that these are only confirmed cases and that the actual scale of the violence is likely significantly larger. Many victims do not report their experiences. Russia also denies UN observers access to occupied territories, Ukrainian prisoners of war, and civilian detainees. The UN attributes 892 cases to the Russian side, including 20 cases that occurred before February 24, 2022. The victims included 725 men, 151 women, 14 girls, and two boys. The report says the violence was committed by Russian military personnel, officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service and Federal Security Service, and other representatives of Russian authorities. Sexual violence was particularly frequent among Ukrainian prisoners of war. Of the released POWs and medical personnel interviewed, 63 provided detailed accounts of sexual violence. This group included 545 men and 27 women. The report also documents sexual violence against 95 Ukrainian civilians: 72 women, eight men, 14 girls, and one boy. Fifty-seven people reported being raped by Russian military personnel. Fifteen of them reported gang rape. The oldest victim was 82 years old. The youngest was four. Three women gave birth to children as a result of rape.
