Ukraine drone strikes halt Moscow refinery processing, damage key distillation units

Overnight into Sept 20, Ukraines Defense Forces struck the Moscow refinery in Kapotnya. Two primary distillation units were likely hit, ELOU-AVT-6 and Euro+, together covering 100 of primary capacity, so processing may be halted. In June it took two raids two days apart. Now both lines were likely hit in one night 18 km from the Kremlin. Reuters later put repairs at 6+ months at best, some analysts not before 2027, so this likely hit freshly restored gear. Zelensky says a logistics site was hit too.

The UN has documented nearly 1,000 cases of conflict-related sexual violence during Russias war against Ukraine. Russian forces were responsible for 89 of the documented cases. Between February 24, 2022, and July 31, 2026, the UN documented 984 cases involving 1,004 individuals. The organization stresses that these are only confirmed cases and that the actual scale of the violence is likely significantly larger. Many victims do not report their experiences. Russia also denies UN observers access to occupied territories, Ukrainian prisoners of war, and civilian detainees. Fifty-seven people reported being raped by Russian military personnel. Fifteen of them reported gang rape. The oldest victim was 82 years old. The youngest was four. Three women gave birth to children as a result of rape.
