Poland will never accept a return to “business as usual” with Russia, including the use of Russian gas, Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański declared at the IV Polish-German Economic Forum in Warsaw on Monday.

The event, organised by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, marked the 35th anniversary of the 1991 Polish-German treaty on good neighbourliness and friendly cooperation. Domański told German counterparts that Europe must draw lessons from the past and reject any scenario involving Russian raw materials.

He said Europe faces unprecedented geopolitical, strategic, and technological challenges that require a strong economy, new growth drivers, and an end to “economic naivety.” Domański called for deregulation, competitive energy markets, and responsible technology policies to secure Europe’s future.

The minister stressed that critical raw materials are essential for technological progress and that Europe must build its own competitive advantages. He reiterated that Poland opposes any resumption of Russian gas imports and urged collective action to ensure energy security.
