A body found in a pond in Brantham, Suffolk, is believed to be that of 3-year-old Noah Woods, who disappeared from a playground on Tuesday, police said. The remains were discovered in Decoy Pond on Wednesday, near where the boy was last seen around 3 p.m. the previous day, according to The Guardian and The Times .
Formal identification has not yet taken place, but Superintendent Tom Pearse of Suffolk Police confirmed Noah’s family had been informed. Pearse stated the death is not currently being treated as suspicious, though the circumstances remain under investigation .
Noah, who was nonverbal, autistic, and partially deaf, was last seen running from the playground toward a nearby residential area. A large-scale search involving over 1,300 volunteers, police, fire crews, coastguard teams, drones, and helicopters was launched, with efforts including door-to-door inquiries and thermal imaging . Noah’s father had earlier urged volunteers on social media not to abandon the search, writing, “I can’t spend another night knowing he’s out there alone.”
