Poch was OK and did a pretty good job, but all of Potter, Maresca and especially Rosenior were risky appointments of managers unproven at the highest level. While Maresca turned out well, and could have been a success if he didnt leave, the others patently didnt. Alonsos success in Germany, combined with his playing career, should give him the credibility with the players (and fans) to reset the team and build on their undoubted talents.
