Bayern Munich squandered a late lead to draw 3-3 with Viking Stavanger in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, as a red card for Michael Olise allowed the Norwegian champions to salvage a point in stoppage time.
Viking stunned Bayern with two first-half goals, Gianni Stensness heading in a corner after 72 seconds and Peter Christiansen finishing a counterattack in the 38th minute. Harry Kane pulled Bayern level with a 54th-minute penalty and a header six minutes later, then set up Luis Díaz for a 3-2 lead in the 71st. But Olise was sent off in the 74th after receiving a second yellow card for throwing the ball at an opponent’s face, and Herman Haugen headed the equalizer in the 90th minute.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany called Olise’s dismissal “super dumb” and said the team had only itself to blame. “It was our own fault,” Kompany told reporters . Kane, who extended his Champions League scoring streak to nine consecutive matches, said Olise “has to take responsibility” for the mistake . The red card rules Olise out of next week’s match against Arsenal.
Elsewhere, Barcelona overcame an early deficit to beat Galatasaray 4-1 in Istanbul, with Lamine Yamal providing two assists. Leipzig secured a 1-0 win over PSV Eindhoven, with Brajan Gruda scoring the decisive goal in the 75th minute .
