Latvia’s railway operator Vivi announced on Monday that some train lines remain partially disrupted as repairs continue following storm damage. Services on the Tukums, Jelgava, Aizkraukle, Sigulda, Daugavpils, Rēzekne and Liepāja lines were scheduled to resume on 24 August according to the timetable, but ongoing infrastructure work may still cause delays .
The announcement comes as the Baltic region hosts the Simple Session Street Series, an international extreme sports event now in its 26th year. Over 30 top BMX riders from 18 countries competed in Tallinn on 19–20 August before moving to Riga for the ROW Baltics street culture festival on 22–23 August. Events in Riga included competitions on Zāģeru iela in the Sarkandaugava district, with street riding across the city. Organizers confirmed that both Tallinn and Riga events were free for spectators .
