Continuation
Riga hosted the final day of the Simple Session Street Series 2026 on Sunday, as the international BMX street riding event concluded its dual-city run in Tallinn and Riga. The competition, now in its 26th year, brought over 30 top riders from 18 countries to perform in urban settings, with Riga’s segment featuring a local skateboarding competition as part of the ROW Baltics street culture festival.
Competitions in Riga took place on Zāģeru iela in the Sarkandaugava district on Saturday, followed by street riding across the city on Sunday. The event was free for spectators, with cash and sponsor-provided prizes awarded during head-to-head rider competitions. Among the participants were Garrett Reynolds, Reed Stark, and Billy Perry from the U.S., Sasha Cambon from France, Joe Jarvis from the U.K., and Sisuke Hayata from Japan.
Simple Session, founded in Tartu, Estonia, in 2000, shifted its focus this year to BMX street riding, moving away from large arenas to city streets. Risto Kalmre, the event’s head organizer, stated that the decision to split the event between Tallinn and Riga aimed to give the discipline full attention and deliver a high-energy show for spectators .
The Riga leg followed two days of competitions and street riding in Tallinn, where events began on August 19 at Balta hoov in the Telliskivi area. The festival’s format, combining extreme sports with evening parties and film screenings, has become a staple in the global BMX and skateboarding community.
