The election, held over three days, excluded parties critical of the Kremlin or the war in Ukraine, with Yabloko—the only anti-war party—barred from the national race. Voting also took place in Russian-occupied Ukrainian regions, including Crimea and parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia. The European Union and allies condemned the ballots in occupied territories as a violation of international law and announced sanctions against organizers and candidates involved .
