Jan-Willem Roodbeen and Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte began their new morning radio show on Radio 10 on Monday. The duo, previously hosts of a successful morning program on NPO Radio 2, are now leading the ochtendshow for the Dutch station formerly known as Radio 10 Gold.
In an interview with ANP, Kijk in de Vegte said, “I’ve been thinking for three weeks: let’s just start already.” Roodbeen agreed, adding, “All through the vacation, every time I heard a good song or a news item, I thought: we should use that in the show, but we didn’t have it then. So now it’s really time.”
NU+ reported that the presenters described themselves as “totally different” and framed the move as the start of a new chapter. Radio 10, part of the Dutch media landscape, has recently seen a decline in listeners, according to the report.
The transition follows their departure from NPO Radio 2, a station under the Dutch state broadcasting organization NPO. Their previous program had been a staple of the morning lineup there.
Meanwhile, other Dutch media figures have been in the spotlight. Frank van Leeuwen, a presenter for NPO 1’s talk show *Goedenavond Nederland*, received praise from TV critics, though he downplayed a comparison to Jeroen Pauw made by Johan Derksen.
