A man died on Saturday after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster, England, and was attacked by one of the animals, South Yorkshire Police said.

Emergency responders were called to the park at about 1:35 p.m. local time but the victim died at the scene, according to the police statement. The tiger was not injured and remained inside the enclosure during the incident, and authorities confirmed there was no wider risk to the public.

The park was evacuated and closed to visitors following the attack. In a statement on its website, Yorkshire Wildlife Park said it was working closely with authorities to determine what happened and that the safety of visitors, staff and animals remained its highest priority.

Police acknowledged footage circulating on social media that appeared to show the man inside the enclosure shortly before the attack and urged the public not to share the distressing video. The man’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers, the police added.

The park’s “Land of the Tigers” attraction, a 2-acre reserve for endangered Amur tigers, includes a 300-meter raised walkway allowing visitors to observe the animals, according to the park’s website. The facility opened in 2009, with the tiger enclosure added in 2011.
