Harry Kane equaled Peter Shilton’s 36-year-old England caps record on Tuesday, making his 125th appearance in a 3-0 Nations League win over Czechia at Wembley. The Bayern Munich forward marked the occasion with two goals, taking his international tally to 91, and played a direct role in the opener when his cross forced Czech defender Vladimir Coufal into an own goal in the 27th minute .

Kane’s first came five minutes before halftime, finishing a sweeping move involving Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers, before he headed home Lewis Hall’s corner in the 57th minute. The victory, England’s third straight in Group A3, left them second behind Spain, who maintain a perfect record .

Shilton, the former England goalkeeper, congratulated Kane on social media, writing: “You will go on and beat it in November I am sure of that, and maybe go on and set a record that may never be beaten” .
