US Magistrate Lauren Louis set another hearing for Monday, July 27. During the brief hearing, neither brother spoke, and they were seen wearing tan jail uniforms and handcuffs.
Joseph McBride, the lawyer for the Tate brothers, insisted that they should remain in the US. "We are of course objecting to extradition because Andrew and Tristan are innocent," McBride said after the hearing. "They’ve never done nothing wrong. They shouldn’t be extradited for crimes they did not commit." McBride also claimed that the arrest was politically motivated, noting that the brothers had met with members of Congress in Washington just days before their arrest.
The Tate brothers are known for their controversial social media presence, promoting wealth, male dominance, and misogyny. Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer, has millions of followers on social media platforms. The brothers have faced charges in Romania for trafficking minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, and money laundering. They were previously detained in Romania but were allowed to leave the country.
The arrest in Miami follows an investigation opened by the state of Florida in March 2025, which is ongoing. The brothers are also facing charges in the UK, with Andrew Tate facing 42 charges and Tristan facing 17 charges. The British Crown Prosecution Service announced the charges on Saturday.
The brothers were born in the US but moved to Luton, north of London, with their mother after their parents' divorce. They have both US and UK citizenship. Andrew Tate is known for his misogynistic remarks and has a significant following on social media, particularly on platform X, where he has 10.8 million followers.
The brothers were previously detained in Romania for several months on similar charges but were later allowed to leave the country. The current status of the Florida investigation is unknown.
McBride has also claimed that the brothers are being held in solitary confinement and are being treated as political prisoners. He shared a KI-generated image of the brothers in a cell with the text "Political Prisoners" on the wall.
The brothers' social media empire promotes wealth, male dominance, and misogyny, making them among the world's most polarizing internet personalities. Normally photographed in tailored suits and fitted shirts, their appearance in court in jail uniforms marked a stark contrast.
The next hearing in their extradition case is scheduled for Monday, July 27, where a US district judge will consider whether they meet the conditions for extradition to the UK.
