Cypriot police arrest five Swedish men in plot to kill British twins: eight now held
Cypriot police have arrested an international criminal gang suspected of plotting to murder a British twin pair, local media reported.
Five Swedish men, aged 21, 22, 22, 25, and 28, were detained while traveling in a vehicle, according to Philenews and Expressen. Authorities found a pistol and knives during a search of the car. The suspects are believed to be part of a larger criminal network, with two Norwegians and an Irish national already in custody in connection with the same case.
Earlier reports from Swedish and Cypriot outlets indicated that the two Norwegians and the Irishman were arrested in late August on suspicion of planning the murder of the British twins. The latest arrests bring the total number of detained suspects to eight.
The investigation remains ongoing, with Cypriot authorities treating the case as part of a coordinated operation targeting organized crime.
