Jaguar unveiled its Type 01 electric luxury GT in New York on Tuesday, marking the culmination of a two-year rebrand and the British carmaker’s radical shift to an all-electric lineup. The £130,000 four-door GT, priced at $172,000, features a 1,030-horsepower tri-motor setup, a 118 kWh battery, and a WLTP range of up to 725 km, with 850-volt architecture enabling 350 kW charging .

The Type 01’s design breaks sharply from Jaguar’s heritage, with a 5.24-meter length, 1.4-meter height, and a long bonnet paired with a fastback silhouette and no rear window, replaced by a camera feed. Its aluminum-intensive body and active aerodynamics, including a three-stage rear spoiler, contribute to a drag coefficient of 0.23 .

Inside, the cabin centers on a 24-inch OLED display and a minimalist layout, with a 7-inch touchscreen for primary controls and rear-seat displays. The Type 01 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, with torque split dynamically across its all-wheel-drive system .

Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover said the model targets younger, wealthier buyers, describing it as a “bold choice” for design- and tech-literate customers. The Type 01 will not launch in China for “a couple of years,” Glover added, as Jaguar prioritizes markets like the U.S. Orders open in early 2027, with deliveries expected in the second half of the year .
