Ukraine and Russia exchanged drone strikes overnight, hitting civilian and industrial targets in both countries.

In Russia, a massive Ukrainian drone swarm struck Belgorod, killing one civilian and injuring 14 others, according to local authorities. The attack damaged at least 30 apartment buildings, 35 vehicles, and the MegaGRINN shopping complex, the city’s largest retail hub, though it was closed at the time . Emergency services were dispatched as residents reported fires in residential areas.

Ukrainian drones also targeted deep Russian territory, including a petrochemical plant in Omsk, Siberia, more than 2,500 km from the border, where fires broke out after strikes on the Omsky Kauchuk facility . A separate attack hit an Ozon logistics hub in the same region, setting a 107,000 m² warehouse ablaze .

In Ukraine, Russian drones and missiles struck multiple cities. Kyiv faced an “exceptionally dense” barrage of 18 missiles from the north, south, and east, all intercepted by air defenses, though debris injured at least three people and damaged central districts, including the city zoo . In Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a drone hit a residential building, killing three civilians and injuring 12, including an 11-year-old girl . Kharkiv also reported one death and four injuries from a drone strike in the Novobavarskyi district .

Ukraine’s military confirmed its Starshield satellite system, used to coordinate drone operations, was restored to full capacity after a week of restrictions . The system’s disruption had previously limited Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian jet-powered drones.
