Barcelona agree deal to sign Spain captain Rodri from Manchester City
Manchester City completed the signing of 18-year-old Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille on Wednesday for a fee of €100 million, the French club confirmed. Bouaddi, who debuted for Lille at 16 and made 96 appearances, signed a five-year contract with the Premier League champions. British media reported the transfer as the most expensive for a teenager in Premier League history .
The deal follows City’s sales of Rodri to Barcelona and Tijjani Reijnders to Al-Qadsiah, with Nico Gonzalez also set to join Newcastle. Bouaddi, a key figure in Morocco’s 2026 World Cup squad, described City as “the best club in the world” in a statement released by the club. “It’s a dream to be here and be able to call myself a City player,” he said .
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur agreed to a season-long loan for Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer for over €60 million. The deal was reported alongside Savinho’s transfer to Tottenham, though the Brazilian’s fee was not disclosed in the primary sources .
Chelsea are also active in the transfer market, considering a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez after signing Morgan Rogers from Villa for a club-record £117 million. Martinez, 33, is available following Villa’s £30 million acquisition of Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma. Chelsea manager Xavi Alonso addressed questions about current goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who conceded twice in the opening Premier League match against Fulham, stating the team was focused on “adjustments that are more team-related” .
In other developments, Barcelona president Joan Laporta reiterated the club’s sole focus on signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, despite Atletico’s public resistance. “We maintain the offer,” Laporta said, as Barcelona seek to secure Alvarez as their only attacking target this window .
