The United States has proposed a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. at a technical level, with the United Arab Emirates as the suggested venue, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday.
Zelensky told journalists that Ukraine is awaiting a proposed date from Washington for the meeting, according to Ukrinform . He added that the G20 summit in Miami in December could also serve as a venue for substantive trilateral talks, provided the U.S. invites Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Moscow is considering participation in the trilateral negotiations but stated it was premature to discuss details, TASS reported . Peskov’s remarks followed meetings between Putin and U.S. diplomats in Moscow, as well as contacts between a Kremlin envoy and U.S. officials in New York.
Zelensky has previously outlined three potential paths toward a ceasefire, including the U.S.-proposed trilateral format, alongside energy and maritime ceasefires. The last round of trilateral talks between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia took place in February, with separate bilateral discussions held since then.
