Unsettled weather swept across multiple European regions on Sunday as rain, thunderstorms, and sharp temperature drops disrupted conditions from the Netherlands to Cyprus.
The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute issued a code yellow warning for the northern half of the country, effective from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning, citing risks of thunderstorms, wind gusts of 60–80 km/h, and localized rainfall totals of 30–50 mm. The institute noted that coastal areas faced the strongest gusts, with potential disruptions to road traffic and outdoor activities .
In Cyprus, the Department of Meteorology forecast rain and isolated thunderstorms from Sunday onward, with temperatures expected to fall starting Monday. Dust remained suspended in the atmosphere, particularly over the eastern half of the island, as weak low pressure brought unstable conditions .
Romania’s national meteorological service warned of a significant temperature drop, with rain spreading across all regions and snow or sleet expected at altitudes above 1,500 meters. Wind gusts could reach 90 km/h, with the advisory valid from 03:00 on Sunday until 10:00 on Tuesday .
Bosnia and Herzegovina also saw widespread rain and localized downpours on Sunday, with gradual clearing expected from the northwest later in the day, followed by a notable temperature decline .
